Muffy's best friend Hoppy Vanderhare

Hoppy Vanderhare is Muffy's best bud. This is her rain gear. Below is an attempt at ball point pen to give you and idea of the colors.

Miss Muffy Bear in her rain gear

I probably shouldn't admit it but I have quite a few Muffy Vander Bears. This is two views of the one called Rainy Day Muffy. I did the quick sketch at the bottom to show the bright colors though her coat is not quite that orange.

Draw a Car

I was waiting for my car to have its oil change and decided to bite the bullet and draw a car. I looked on the EDM list and actually couldn't find draw a car. Anyway, I am sad that my dealer might not be here in three months. I love having my car serviced at my dealer. The idea that they might disappear is very hard for me. I have had Saturns for almost 18 years now. Their customer service has been the best. I am very unhappy with this scan. I don't know why I keep getting these dark spots when I scan my moleskine sketchbook. It seems to be only happening on the large one. I tried several times but still kept getting the dark spots.
***************************************************************************************
Thanks to those who responded from EDM as to what to do. This is a better scan but I am still having the same trouble. I leaned on it but still got one bad spot but not nearly as bad as before.
After four tries I just have to back off!! Thanks!

My Fabulous Cat

My cat knows how to find the most comfortable spots in the house. I had moved this quilt over to a chair while making the bed. I came in and found her in the folds next to the bear. I have had this bear, Benjamin, for over 25 years. He is a big bear. He looks a bit like Pooh but is not a Pooh bear. This is a pencil drawing and did not scan well.....

Dogs in cars #2

I love this dog. She belongs to a neighbor. My neighbor stopped the car to talk and thankfully I had my camera in my purse. I didn't do the dog justice. She is a beautiful golden. The scanner didn't pick up the reflection of trees in the car window, so this might look a bit weird.

One Happy Dog

Here's another series I hope to start, though it is hard capturing the photos unless I am stopped at a red light like I was for this one. There were actually two big dogs in the car but I like this guys expression. Hope to get more photos to do more of these.

Sun Gazing at OMSI

A few weeks ago I went to the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit at OMSI. There was a local astronomy club out on the sidewalks with their telescopes set up for people to view the sun. The picture above is drawn from a photo I took.

An animal surprise

Drawn from a photo by Dale Meyerson

Pup on size six slipper

Photos taken by Dale Meyerson
My friend, Dale, in Arizona, lost her beloved dog Daisy a few weeks ago. She still has a pekinese named Jerry who is missing Daisy very much. So Dale decided to start looking for another dog. A rescue operation gave her the little guy above, who had just been rescued by the side of a road. Well, Jerry would not go near this little guy so he had to go back to the rescue people. Well , when he was taken to the vet, it turns out this little guy was a coyote baby, not a dog! So Jerry had it right all along. I hope the little guy was able to be placed back in the wild.

The Button King

This drawing is of a stuffed toy (which is probably not the right word) called Alpaca Rat, the button king which is a signed piece by Charleen Kinser. I also own a closet beast and a closet beastie as shown in the photo above. Since I am having trouble with ideas of things to draw, the contents of their pouches are next on my list.
From Charleen's web site:
Closet Beastie TooToo young yet to stay put in his closet, Beastie pokes about nabbing the kids' trinkets as he goes. And like other curious young creatures, he explores his toes - and nose.
Closet Beast IIFlustered at your presence, he watches your every move into his darkness. Although impressed with the goings and comings of shoes, the intensely private Closet Beast II contents himself with a "great" tie, a few found treasures, and the stubs of theater tickets.
Alpaca Rat, The Button King"Al", The Button King, is a wiley collector and an even wilier barterer. He's got his eye on Closet Beastie's spectacular belly button. Beastie, beware of rats bearing gifts.

The last of the cat show pictures for now.

Big Guy

The owner of this guy said he weighs about 22 pounds. He is a Maine Coon cat but his markings looked more like some sort of wild cat. I always wanted a Maine Coom because they are supposed to look like racoons. What I really want is a racoon which isn't going to happen.

Homework: Still life

Our homework assignment was to draw a still life with objects that represented us and our family. I found this to be very interesting. If I had done this like I wanted I would have had an ashtray and cigarette to represent my mother but I don't want cigarettes in my house. Even though I quit smoking eighteen years ago there is no reason to tempt myself. Also I would have used a different ruler to represent my father...one of the long, triangular ones that engineers use. I am the pencil and my sister is the egg. I wasn't sure how to represent her as she is a good person and a good egg. I feel I could have thought this out more had I had longer than a week. I thought this was a very interesting assignment.

Smiling Kitty

There are smiling cats from England and smiling cats from France. I think if you give a cat a chance, most of them will give you a smile, if you look from the right angle.

Trapped Kitty

This time the scan didn't work at all. Poor kitty. The more I work with my photos from this show the more I realize how unhappy the kitties were.
