Eloise was one of my favorite books as a child. I lived in the south and wanted to live in the north. I didn't make it to New York City to visit until I was 17. I have always harbored a desire/wish to live in New York but never felt I would have the stamina to do so without a lot of money. The closest I got was Philadelphia, an amazing city. I loved doing this page. Hiliary Knight's drawings are delicate yet expressive with the fewest of lines.

What a fun way to celebrate an illustrator whose work you admire. I really enjoying looking at the many different styles of artwork I see in children's books when I'm at the library with my little girl ... maybe I should take my sketchbook on our next visit? :)
Another fabulous inchie. I need to move our copy of Eloise close to my "drawing space" and remember to try to learn more about line from some of these.
