Well I took a very big step this past week. Last Thursday I had the tv disconnected by the cable company. When I realized I was still getting some fuzzy feed including AMC I sold my big TV on Saturday during my neighbor's garage sale. I put a plant in its place:
I threw away the antenna on my small tv (see drawing above) so I can't watch any programming coming over the airwaves. I also had a small B&W tv in the garage that I gave to a friend on Sunday. I kept the small tv so I can watch dvds. So far this has been fine. I realize I can still see most any show on line if I really, really want to see something or I can wait for the dvd to be released next year. My hope is that I will get more accomplished and not fill my brain with all the odd programming that is out there. I could not watch the news anymore due to the drug ads and the negativity. So we will see how it goes.

Halloween Candy
I am starting a new category this month. I am on a quest to find weird halloween candy. I thought this was a cute idea but it tasted awful.

EDM challenge #84 Draw some bread
Well I bought another panini last week and decided to try to draw it. Not a particularly good job. I don't have the right browns in my colored pencil stash to make it look like I wanted so I left it in pencil. A yummy treat.

EDM challenge #137 draw something you turn on and off
For the longest time I thought I needed an IPod. I went and looked at them and realized that I didn't really need one though I did want something small to put a few things on. I read a review in the Oregonian about this little guy called a sansa clip. I immediately went to Best Buy to check it out and it turned out to be reasonably priced and exactly what I needed. I was able to use it quickly and transfer (sync) files from windows media player to it. It also has an FM radio which I listen to when I water the yard. All in all a great solution without a lot of fuss.
I should mention that I got a scanner but I realize it is making my pencil drawings look odd. This was done with pencil but looks weird to me. I might just photograph pencil drawings for now.

Other People's Dogs #2 Lola
Lola lives with her family in Tualatin, Oregon. I met Lola at an art workshop that was really awful but meeting Lola saved the afternoon. I like Lola because she knows what is what. She is the princess and ruler of her household. She has a cat named Emmy who is at her beck and call. Lola has Emmy trained to give her daily baths. See the video here. She also has a big dog, a vizsla, named Red. When she is not bossing the household, you'll probably find her in her mom's lap watching her creating her wonderful watercolors.
This drawing is based on a photograph taken by her mom Ruth at the Hughs Water Gardens in Wilsonville, Oregon. Check out the original photo on Ruth's blog. The entry date of the photo is July 27th, 2008. There is another photo of her under September 11th entry also.

EDM challenge #84 draw some bread
Drawing bread was harder than I thought it would be. My favorite roll is a breakfast panini from New Seasons markets. Bread is a downfall for me so mostly I don't eat it.

EDM challenge #43 draw something china or ceramic
Okay, I originally gave this cup away to my neighbor Linda when I cleaned out my house earlier this year. I thought I remembered that there was a picnic in the bottom of the cup which I thought would work well with the paper bag/ant idea of the ants looking for food. So I borrow the cup back to draw and find out there is not a picnic in the bottom of the cup but some strange grouping of women playing musical instruments. So since that did not fit in with my idea I cheated and made up a picnic in the bottom of the cup. Thus ends the saga of the ants looking for food. There has to be a happy ending.

Challenge #8 Draw your watch or jewelry
As I have mentioned previously, I did a major house cleaning at the beginning of this year. I didn't have a lot of jewelry to begin with but now this is all I have, one watch and this pendant and pin. I just wasn't brave enough to put color on the drawing of the pendant. I put a photograph of it so you could see how wonderful it is.

Challenge #17 draw a muscial instrument
I always wanted to play a musical instrument but I have absolutely no musical talent. I can drum and I can rattle. This is a rattle I bought fairly recently. I couldn't get the end of it in but it is made from a stick that a beaver has chewed.
