May 2009 Overview

May was another month I found difficult to decide what to do for an overview. I am enjoying the techniques I learned in my weekend workshop so I decided to redraw the J. Jill jacket in the different techniques. I drew a different fairy at the wishing well mixing colored pencil and watercolor pencil. My favorite inchie overview was this month. There were many fairies that I was pleased with also. Check out the month for varied drawings.

This has been one of my favorite things to draw. This will be my last one...

Sunday Outing

So Sunday I went to Hughes Water Gardens to sketch.

An attempt to draw a big pond. Drawing water is very hard.

On my way out I saw this nest and baby birds. What a wonderful gift.

I just kept snapping pictures and caught these two.

And the big news: I finished one small moleskine sketchbook. I started on Jan. 4 and finished exactly 6 months later on July 5.

I thought I was supposed to be getting better at this!!

I went to a lovely afternoon concert, but it was way too hot in the church. It was great that I was there as I got home and had no power. A PGE sub station blew up about 3pm. The power came back on about 6pm so I was only without power for about 45 minutes. Anyway, I am not pleased with these drawings. I am not sure how to get better at this impromptu sketching, but will plug on.....

Out and about with my moley

Ron Stocke doing a watercolor demo at Art Media in Beaverton, Oregon

Audience members

On Saturday morning I went to the last of a Fairy Gathering that Cynthia from my art group has put on for the last four years. It is/was an enchanting fair for kids where they come dressed as fairies and were able to make wands, wings, fairy gardens and magic potions and more. Much more to come on that (maybe too much more). Stay tuned.
